Kotoba Drop

Kotoba Drop is a Japanese vocabulary game you can play in the browser. Words fall down the screen in romaji; type or tap the meaning before they land. Over 1,000 words are on the ladder, drip-fed a handful at a time so you are always practising the ones you nearly know.

What is in it

• 1,003 words across everyday Japanese vocabulary, introduced in difficulty order.
• Romaji-first — no kana knowledge required to start, so day one is playable.
• Spoken audio using your browser's Japanese voice, with a volume control and a voice picker.
• Strength tracking — words you keep missing come back around; words you have nailed retire.
• A shop that spends the petals you earn from clean runs.
• Progress saves locally. Close the tab, come back, carry on.

Controls

Mouse or touch. Tap the answer, or hit the on-screen keys. Works on phones as well as desktop.
